About Us

The Society for African-American Cultural Awareness is a group of African-Americans with a common goal. SAACA is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the level of cultural awareness in Jackson-Madison County and the surrounding areas. SAACA operates under the guidelines that are set forth in its by-laws, and has its four (4) main objectives to:

1. Promote a positive awareness and appreciation of African-American culture;
2. Educate and entertain members of the African-American community in particular, and the larger community in general;
3. Provide economic opportunity for African-Americans; and
4. Foster an appreciation for ethnic and cultural diversity.

SAACA sponsors several major activities/events annually, namely:

African Ball- February
SAACA Golf Tournament-June
Juneteenth-June
African Street Festival-September
Kwanzaa-December

Presently, the organization consists of a group of professionals that volunteer their time and talents to provide the community with African-American culture, success, and achievements.

Membership in the organization is open to all persons with a genuine interest and desire to work with the organization toward satisfying a need and fulfilling expressed goals. SAACA is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the level of cultural awareness in Jackson-Madison County and the surrounding areas.
